Lena de Bottom
Lena de Bottom is a Professor and a researcher in the Department of Sociology at the University of Barcelona. PhD from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, she has participated in several international research projects such as INCLUD-ED, contributing to the improvement of education, especially for women from cultural minorities, such as Muslim women. Her research focuses mainly on the areas of immigration, cultural identity, immigrant women, inter-religious dialogue and inclusive education, and has directed projects focused on these topics. Particularly noteworthy are her studies regarding the contributions that Muslim women are making to the feminist discourse. She coordinates the Inter-religious Dialogue Group (University of Barcelona) and is part of the Advisory Council for Religious Diversity (Generalitat de Catalunya). Lena has several papers in prestigious scientific journals and she is co-author of the book “The Chosen Veil”. It should be noted that De Botton has participated as a volunteer in the Mare de Déu of Montserrat Learning Community School since 2002.
