Maite Novo Molinero

Maite Novo Molinero is an interim professor at the Rovira i Virgili University (Tarragona) and coordinator of the didactic of experimental sciences area at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology. With a background in fundamental science focused on biotechnology and genomics, since 2010 she has been teaching and researching educational science. She is a member of the MEDIS research group (Methodology of Educational Education with Social Impact), where she is dedicated to the promotion of scientific vocations in vulnerable groups. She has participated and led different projects, being the main researcher of the project “Inquiry in early childhood education (3-6 years): classroom activities for the promotion of scientific reasoning, groups at risk of social exclusion”, funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology. Her research focuses on the application and evaluation of teaching methodologies in the STEM disciplines, for the development of scientific competence within the educational community. She has carried out several projects focused on the development of scientific thinking in early childhood and primary education, applying methodologies such as inquiry-based learning, as well as actions to improve initial teacher training.
